The most premium version of Efe is a triple alembic distilled raki called Kara Efe which means black Efe. Water used in the making of this raki is brought from the natural resources of the Bozdag Mountain’s snowy peaks. Efe Raki is the first privately produced Raki in Turkey. Raki production had been in a government monopoly from 1931 until June 2003, when a new regulation came into force. With this change, a company named ELDA built a factory from bare ground, in 20,000 m2 of land, to produce Efe Raki.
